South Shore
The South Shore has some magnificent towns and attractions to appeal to everyone. Take the ferry to Fire Island and spend the day on the laid back beaches where the island is car free. There is a lighthouse
to visit as well. Jones Beach is beautiful and take in a concert in the evening under the stars. There are some awesome private beach clubs such as The Sands in Atlantic Beach and Malibu in Long Beach if
surfing is your thing. Go for a cruise in Freeport.
If you are a history buff, many towns such as Seaford, Babylon, and Bayshore have historical societies open to the public depicting the history of the towns. Many of the South Shore communities have some
lovely older buildings and the architecture is intact.
The South Shore Nature Center is a public center located in East Islip and provides interactive exhibits and collections of both live animals and mounted wildlife specimens and dioramas. Tanglewood
Preserve in Rockville Center as a Dinosaur Exhibit/Center for Science Teaching & Learning. There are robotic dinosaurs there. Eisenhower Park in East Meadow has an Aquatic Center, Golf Course, Tennis
Courts, and batting cages to name a few activities.
If libations are your thing, then head to FIV Fire Island Vines in Bay Shore or Loughlin Vineyard in Sayville. For Breweries stop by Great South Bay Brewery in Bay Shore, South Shore Craft Brewery in
Oceanside, and Secatogue Brewing Company in West Islip.The South Shore is also known for its fabulous restaurants. Jordans Island Park is famous for its Lobsters. Salt on the Water in Merrick, Tres Palms in
Babylon and Smuggler Jack's are just a few.
